But let&#039;s take a closer look at these myths mentioned by the author.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Legende-de-la-salle-des-Abencerrajes\"><\/span>Legend of the Abencerrajes room<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>A family of the Muslim nobility who once lived in the Alhambra, the Abencerrajes (or Abenc\u00e9rages) would have suffered the wrath of the Zenetes, their political rivals. The story goes that the latter invented a romantic relationship between their sultana and one of the Abencerrajes, which had the consequence of putting Sultan Boabdil, the last Nasrid emir of Granada, beside himself.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Selon la l\u00e9gende, il organisa alors une f\u00eate au cours de laquelle il fit d\u00e9capiter 36 cavaliers et membres de la famille Abencerrajes dans la salle situ\u00e9e au sud de la cour des Lions qui porte aujourd&rsquo;hui leur nom. La couleur rouge\u00e2tre de la pierre de la fontaine proviendrait de ce massacre sanguinaire. Mais d&rsquo;apr\u00e8s Washington Irving ces faits ne seraient pas r\u00e9els et \u00e9maneraient d&rsquo;une confusion historique avec d&rsquo;anciens \u00e9mirs nasrides.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Legende-de-la-Porte-de-la-Justice\"><\/span>Legend of the Gate of Justice<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>On the door of the Tower of Justice, one of the main entrances to the Alhambra, is represented on the interior arch a key. The outer arch is decorated with a hand whose fingers symbolize the five pillars of Islam (belief in one God, the five daily prayers, alms, fasting and the pilgrimage to La Mecca). The legend says that the day when this key and this hand will come together, that is, when the Alhambra collapses, will coincide with the end of the world.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Legende-de-la-Chaise-du-Maure\"><\/span>Legend of the Moor&#039;s Chair<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Higher on the Sabika hill where the Alhambra is erected, there is a very special chair. It was in this precise spot that Boabdil the Moor watched helplessly during his reign the growing revolt in his city of Granada.
