Vers le soir, l&rsquo;homme redescendit et arriva chez lui o\u00f9 sa gloutonne compagne lui dit :<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Mon pauvre Pierre, Dieu sait ce qui nous arrivera encore ! Tandis que je d\u00e9crochais la daurade du clou, cette effront\u00e9e m&rsquo;a gliss\u00e9 des mains et s&rsquo;est \u00e9chapp\u00e9e vers le ruisseau.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>\u00c0 ces mots, l&rsquo;homme se saisit d&rsquo;un b\u00e2ton et se mit \u00e0 fouiller dans tous les coins de la maison. Ses efforts furent inutiles.<\/p>\n\n<p>Le lendemain, en rentrant chez lui, il passa devant l&rsquo;\u00e9tal d&rsquo;une marchande de poissons qui pr\u00e9sentait une daurade tout \u00e0 fait semblable \u00e0 son pr\u00e9tendu repas. Il murmura \u00ab je te tiens, friponne \u00bb, il s&rsquo;en saisit et l&#8217;emporta chez lui. La marchande se mit \u00e0 poursuivre Pierre, lui criant apr\u00e8s et l&rsquo;insultant. Tous les habitants de la rue se tordaient de rire\u2026 Pour calmer les esprits, un gentilhomme paya le poisson \u00e0 la marchande.<\/p>\n\n<p>Une fois chez lui, Pierre se mit \u00e0 pr\u00e9parer le repas avec beaucoup de soin. Il pla\u00e7a le poisson dans une grande marmite pleine d&rsquo;eau, la posa sur le feu et s&rsquo;assit en face du foyer, le b\u00e2ton \u00e0 la main pour s&rsquo;assurer que le poisson ne s&rsquo;\u00e9chapperait pas une nouvelle fois.<\/p>\n\n<p>Bient\u00f4t l&rsquo;eau se mit \u00e0 bouillir.
