which can be understood as <em>\u201cPeople of truth\u201d<\/em> as good as <em>\u201cMan of God\u201d<\/em>) is a religion founded by Sultan Sah\u00e2k at the end of the 14th difficult to determine because there are borrowings from numerous beliefs.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>According to Ir\u00e8ne M\u00e9likoff, Y\u00e2rs\u00e2nism is a religious order similar to other esoteric heterodox groups of Shiite Muslim origin such as the Ghulat (known as \u201cBaltinites\u201d), the Alevis, the Druze or the Ismailis. Moreover, the members of this community practice <em>taqiya<\/em> (concealment) like the Druze. Considered apostates, they were persecuted by the Sunni authorities.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, independent university researchers consider Y\u00e2rs\u00e2nism as one religion among others: thus, according to Mehrdad Izady, Y\u00e2rs\u00e2nism is one of the three religions forming Yazdanism (with Alevism and Yezidism), a term he erected to designate religions that it considers to be <a href=\"https:\/\/mythslegendes.com\/en\/kurdish-mythology\/\">kurds<\/a> and containing elements that predate Islam. Regarding the common points between these three religions, the Turkologist Ir\u00e8ne M\u00e9likoff writes that \u201cthe three Bektashi-Alevi principles concerning the Creation of the World (..) are also found in religions specific to the Kurds, among the <a href=\"https:\/\/mythslegendes.com\/en\/kurdish-mythology\/\">Yazidis<\/a> and the Ahl-\u00e8-Hakk \u00bb\u201d. <\/p>\n<p>Other common points exist between these religions such as the belief in the \u201cPeacock Angel\u201d common to Yarsanism and Yezidism or the representation of the \u201cPeacock Angel\u201d in the form of a rooster, an animal object of veneration among the Alevis.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>The Y\u00e2rs\u00e2ns have a religious literature mainly written in Goran\u00ee and marginally in Persian, although some Y\u00e2rs\u00e2ns today also speak Turkmen and Sorani.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Until the 20th<sup>e<\/sup>\u00a0century, the Y\u00e2rs\u00e2n faith was, like the Druze faith, preached only within the Kurdish community and only to <em>chekedes<\/em> (\u201cborn in the community\u201d), excluding <em>chasbed\u00e9s<\/em> (\u201cattached\u201d, entered the community by marriage with a Y\u00e2rs\u00e2n family).
