class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/mythslegendes.com\/en\/\">mythology<\/a> Wabanaki brings together the following Native American peoples: <strong>Confederation Wabanaki, Pentagouet, Ab\u00e9naqui, M\u00edkmaq, Micmacs, Mi&#039;kmaq, Penawapskewi, Pentagouets, Pestomuhkati, Passamaquoddys, Wolastoqiyik, Maliseet, Malicite, Maliseet<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Wabanaki confederation<\/strong> (Wabenaki, Wobanaki) was a historic confederation, from the XVII<sup>e<\/sup> and XVIII<sup>e<\/sup>\u00a0centuries, of five Amerindian nations having the Algonquin language as a common language.<\/p>\n\n<p>Members of the Wabanaki Confederacy were located in an area they called Wabanaki (Dawnland). To Europeans, this region was known as Acadia and Maine, New<a href=\"https:\/\/mythslegendes.com\/en\/scottish-mythology-2\/\">Scotland<\/a> and New Brunswick, plus a small portion of Quebec south of the St. Lawrence River. The western Abenaki were located in New Hampshire, Vermont and Massachusetts.<\/p>\n\n<p>The members of the Wabanaki Confederation were:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Pentagouets (west Abenaki)<\/li>\n<li>(east) Abenaki<\/li>\n<li>M\u00edkmaq (Micmacs or Mi&#039;kmaq)<\/li>\n<li>Penawapskewi (Pentagouets)<\/li>\n<li>Pestomuhkati (Passamaquoddys)<\/li>\n<li>Wolastoqiyik (Maliseet or Malicite or Maliseet)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>They were also allies of <a href=\"https:\/\/mythslegendes.com\/en\/innu-mythology\/\">Innu<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/mythslegendes.com\/en\/mythology-anichinabians\/\">Algonquins<\/a> and Huron-Wendat.<\/p>\n\n<p>The confederation ceased to exist in 1862, but five Wabanaki nations still exist
