Legend has it that the ancestors of Breogán arrived in Galicia, coming from Egypt to escape the plagues of the time of Moses. In all probability this legend was created in the Middle Ages, when there was already a great Christian tradition.
According to Irish tradition, repeated in a book of the XIe century, the Lebor Gabála Erenn (the Book of Conquests), which recounts the various invasions of Ireland, Breogán is the name of a mythical Celtic king of Galicia.
According to this legend, he built the Tower of Hercules (Torre de Hércules) in La Coruña. From where, still according to legend, his son Ith saw Ireland and set out to conquer it. Unfortunately, he is murdered. In revenge, the sons of Mile, son of Bile and therefore grandsons of Breogán and grand-nephews of Ith, sail from Galicia to Ireland to conquer it.
