Celtic Mythology

Celtic Mythology Celtic Mythology

The mythology Celtic is constitutive of the religion of Celts of Protohistory/Antiquity. Our knowledge is incomplete since the sources we have are Gallic, more precisely Gallo-Roman, Welsh and Irish, whereas Celtic civilization concerned a large part of Europe. It is protean since the number of truly pan-Celtic gods is limited and the mythical events differ.

There are however correspondences between the divinities of the various geographical zones, equivalences in the myths and the omnipresence of the druids, both in Gaul than in the British Isles. This page is an index of terms, creatures and heroes of Celtic mythology.
