The strawberries

The Strawberry Ceremony usually takes place in the second half of June. The children – who play – are the ones who find the first ripe strawberries. They will take them for themselves and for people who are unable to pick them up themselves. The date will then be set for the festival to be held at the Town Hall, where the plants that provide the strawberries will be thanked when the warm air arrives.

Strawberry Ceremony

There will be two Great Feather Dances, in the first a girl and a boy will be chosen to distribute the drink made with the berries to the people. Before drinking, people express their personal gratitude to strawberries, predicting a new meeting for the next year. The second dance aims to reinforce everything that happened that day. The ancients say that the strawberry is the leader of the berries, because it comes from the sky world and is the first berry to ripen, after the strawberry, the other berries ripen.
